Discover what comes in the Sphero Mini Shell Accessory Pack and learn step-by-step how to swap shells, protect your robot, and add variety to coding activities.

Quick answer

The Sphero Mini Shell Accessory Pack includes six colorful shells (red, blue, green, clear, soccer, and golf) plus a bonus Mini Turbo Cover, letting you customize and protect your Sphero Mini robot in seconds.

What's in the pack and why it matters

This accessory pack contains six different shells and one Mini Turbo Cover. The shells are purely cosmetic—they change the look of your Sphero Mini without affecting its movement or sensors. The Turbo Cover adds a layer of protection during active play or rough surfaces.

Because the pack does not include the Sphero Mini robot itself, you need an existing Mini to use these shells. Each shell snaps on and off easily, so you can switch them between activities or students.

When to use the Turbo Cover vs. standard shells

Standard shells are great for everyday coding lessons, color-matching games, or expressing a mood. The Turbo Cover is thicker and better suited for outdoor use, obstacle courses, or younger children who may drop the robot more often.

Keep in mind that the Turbo Cover adds a small amount of bulk. If your activity requires precise maneuvering through tight spaces, a standard shell is the better choice.

How to swap shells on your Sphero Mini

  1. Remove the current shell: Hold the Sphero Mini firmly and gently pull the existing shell upward from the bottom edge. It should pop off without much force. If it feels stuck, check that no debris is caught under the edge. Never use tools or excessive force—the shell is designed to snap off by hand.
  2. Align the new shell: Take your chosen shell and line up the notch on the inside with the small tab on the Sphero Mini. Press the shell onto the robot until you hear a soft click. Ensure it sits evenly all around. If the shell does not click into place, rotate it 180° and try again—it only fits one way.
  3. Attach the Turbo Cover (optional): If you want extra protection, place the Turbo Cover over the shell after it is installed. Press down around the edges until it snaps on. Remove it by peeling from one corner. The Turbo Cover works over any standard shell, so you can still show the color underneath.
  4. Test the fit: Turn on the Sphero Mini and roll it a short distance. If the shell rattles or shifts, remove and reattach it. A properly fitted shell stays secure during normal use. A loose shell can interfere with movement sensors—always test before a class activity.
