The inverter is an example of a logic Bit. It sends out the opposite of whatever it receives: send it an on signal, and the inverter changes it to an off signal, or vice versa. Would you like a button that turns things off instead of on? Try the inverter.
My kid figured out the whole on/off trick in about two minutes and now the inverter is the piece he grabs first. It does exactly what the description says, flipping whatever signal it gets into the opposite. Simple little Bit, but it opens up so many more builds.
Bought this to flip a signal in my logic chain and it does exactly that — send it on, get off. Only gripe is that it took me a minute to figure out which input was which, but once wired up it worked fine.
